EXAMINATION OF THE WU WEI IN DAOISM THROUGH 

THE IDEAL PERSON IN DAO DE JING

Özet

Daoizm’in ana metni sayılan 道德經 (Dào Dé Jīng/Yol ve Erdem), Daoizm’in temel ideali olan Wu Wei’yi geniş çapta ele almaktadır. Dao De Jing o dönemin ahlaki çöküşüne bir çözüm olarak yazılmış ve insanın kendisinden toplumun yönetimine kadar birçok çözüm sunmuştur. Laozi’ya göre bu ahlaki çöküş “gök” kavramına verilen değerin zayıflamasından kaynaklanmaktadır. Laozi “gök” kavramına yeni bir bakış açısı getirmiş ve onu “doğallık” (自然, zìrán) temeline oturtmuştur. Wu Wei,  Daoizm’in temel idealidir,  her ne kadar anlaması ve hayata geçirmesi zor olsa da Dao De Jing’de “bilge kişi” üzerinden örneklerle açıklanmıştır.

Abstract

道德經 (Dào Dé Jīng /The Way and Virtue), the main text of Daoism, dealt extensively with Wu Wei, the fundamental ideal of Daoism. Dao De Jing was written as a solution to the moral decadence of that period and offered many solutions from the human being to the management of society. According to Laozi, the main reason of moral decadence is due to the weakening of the value given to the concept of "heaven". Laozi brought a new perspective to the concept of "heaven" and placed it on the basis of "natural" (自然, zìrán). Wu Wei is the basic ideal of  Daoism, and although it is difficult to comprehend , it is explained in Dao De Jing with examples through the "ideal person".
